On Sabbath, February 1, people gathered at the Mulberry Creek Park Recreation Center in Flowery Branch, GA, for a time of Worship and Ordination for Pastor David R. Johnson.  Sabbath Chapel, a group sponsored by the Metro Atlanta SDB Church, is led by Pastor David Johnson.

David’s Ordination Council had been held in Hiram, GA where the Metro Atlanta SDB Church meets on January 18.  Representatives from the SDB Church of Southeast Atlanta, Christian Family Fellowship, Jacob’s Well in Lexington, SC, Garden of Prayer in Saint Stephen, SC, Sabbath Chapel, Flowery Branch, GA, the Metro Atlanta SDB Church, Daytona Beach, FL, as well as myself were present.  He presented his life experinece and then his statement of belief.  Questions were answered and then the Council voted to recommend to the Metro Atlanta Church that he be ordained.  The council also voted to affirm that his belief was in accord with the SDB Statement of Belief.

Those present for the Ordination on February 1, included folks from Sabbath Chapel, Metro Atlanta, Shepherd’s Fold in Johnson City, TN, Pastor John Pethtel from Colorado Springs, CO (formerly of GA) and myself from Wisconsin.  Pastor David Johnson was the worship leader and led a group of four musicians as they provided the music for worship.  Pastor Luis Lovelace from Metro Atlanta led the Pastoral Prayer, gave the Charge to the Church and offered the Consecrating Prayer and Welcome to the SDB Ministry.  Pastor John Pethtel gave the Ordination Sermon.  I presented the Charge to the Candidate.  Pastor David Johnson brought a message “Who Do YOu Say Jesus Is?” based on Matthew 16:13-17, and Pastor David Pearson brought the Benediction.  David and Brenda Johnson sat together for the Consecrating Prayer and the laying on of hands.

A meal followed with a good time of fellowship.  A special thanks to Norma Hathcock and Brenda Johnson for pictures.
